Rusty Hardin's Comments About Marcie

Marcie grew up in Houston, graduated from Memorial High School, and then attended the University of Texas, where she majored in Honors Business and Accounting. Marcie was one of the few, if not the only, students to graduate from the University of Texas with a perfect 4.0 in accounting. She remained at the University of Texas to receive her masters in business administration. In 1993, she joined Ernst & Young as a tax associate. Marcie became a Certified Public Accountant in 1994 and was a tax senior when she left Ernst & Young in 1997. After leaving Ernst & Young, she spent six months in the finance group at Continental Airlines. She then moved back to Austin to attend law school at the University of Texas, where she became a member of Chancellors when she was fourth in her class. Marcie has the distinction of having scored the highest score on the Texas Bar Exam in July 2000. She worked at Baker Botts in Houston for three years, where she specialized in general civil litigation until joining us in July 2003.

Marcie is an extremely bright lawyer who prefers to prepare cases for trial and/or resolution, to interview and deal with witnesses in that context, and to put the whole package together for whomever intends to take it to mediation or trial. She is an outstanding writer with a great personality and is an extremely quick study as to the significant issues and controlling law in a particular case. Her enthusiasm is a delight to behold, and we have been blessed to have her. Marcie works exclusively on civil cases for the firm and has been particularly helpful recently in marshalling the facts and law in several pieces of complex civil litigation. She is married to Charles, who is a partner at Joyce, McFarland + McFarland, and they have a son named Sam.
