Rusty Hardin's Comments About Ryan

Ryan grew up outside of Dallas, Texas. After graduating from law school at Southern Methodist University in Dallas in 1998, he and his wife Laura moved to New York City, where Laura attended Columbia Law School and Ryan joined the firm of Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP. Ryan spent six years with Boies, Schiller & Flexner. While there, Ryan enjoyed an incredibly diversified practice with outstanding lawyers, primarily representing large corporations and classes of individuals in complex commercial litigation and antitrust litigation throughout the country. In his last trial before leaving Boies, Schiller & Flexner, Ryan was part of the trial team assisting David Boies in a successfully concluded three-month jury trial in the Southern District of New York regarding whether the tragedy on September 11, 2001 was one occurrence or two.

Ryan joined our firm in February 2005 and has been an outstanding contributor to the firm since then. Soon after he joined the firm, we were retained by Las Vegas Sands, Corp., the owner of The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino and The Sands Macau, to represent it in litigation involving its Macau gaming operations. Ryan has also represented clients in matters as varied as energy company commercial disputes, trade secret disputes, antitrust class actions, and, most notably, in commercial disputes that have resulted in very satisfactory settlements for the clients.

Ryan’s wife Laura is from Houston and was an associate with Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York while Ryan was at Boies, Schiller & Flexner. She is now a consultant with the management consulting firm McKinsey & Company.
